The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) is excited to announce a major funding milestone, having raised $3,500,000 to further empower and enrich the services, governance, and representation offered to our diverse communities. This substantial investment highlights the confidence of our partners and stakeholders in our mission, which is to support the economic, social, and environmental goals of the region. With a Board of 20 Directors representing 11 electoral areas and nine municipalities, including communities like Castlegar, Creston, Kaslo, and Nelson, the RDCK has long been a pillar of regional collaboration and effective local government. The acquired funds will be strategically deployed to enhance essential services for both rural and urban residents, ensuring that people across the region have access to the support they need. In particular, this funding will bolster initiatives aimed at improving communal infrastructure, environmental preservation, and sustainable economic development, reflecting our commitment to serving both densely populated centers and more remote electoral areas. The infusion of these resources also underscores our appreciation for the hardworking staff—approximately 350 part- and full-time employees—and the dedicated volunteers who contribute to our 36 commissions and 18 fire departments. By investing in these critical areas, the RDCK is poised to foster enhanced regional collaboration while respecting and celebrating the unique qualities of each community. This funding marks a significant leap forward in our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive, equitable services to every resident—a testament to our enduring promise to work hand in hand with all communities in the Regional District of Central Kootenay.
