We are excited to announce that the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) has successfully raised $857,909 in new funding to further its mission of empowering local communities through workforce development. Since its establishment in 1996, SEMCA has been at the forefront of developing innovative training programs and career pathways for residents and employers in Wayne and Monroe counties (excluding the city of Detroit). As the region’s designated Michigan Works! Agency, SEMCA operates seven strategically located Michigan Works Service Centers—in Dearborn, Grosse Pointe, Highland Park, Livonia, Monroe, Southgate, and Wayne—ensuring that quality workforce development services are accessible to those who need them most. This significant funding boost will be used to enhance existing programs and launch new initiatives designed to meet the evolving needs of the local labor market. With a focus on equipping individuals with the skills necessary to secure meaningful employment opportunities, SEMCA aims to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, stimulate economic growth, and foster a more resilient community. The infusion of funds will also facilitate the improvement of training facilities, the development of cutting-edge curriculum, and the expansion of outreach efforts to underserved populations. Accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), SEMCA remains committed to maintaining high standards of service delivery while continuously adapting to the dynamic demands of the workforce sector. Through this investment, SEMCA is poised not only to solidify its legacy in workforce development but also to drive lasting positive change across the region. We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone as we continue our journey to build a better, more prosperous future for all.
