As one of the largest hospitals in Ontario serving a population of 400,000 residents, the hospital has long been a pillar in providing advanced care across a wide range of specialties including Complex Trauma, Renal Dialysis, Cardiac Care, Stroke and Neurosurgery, Intensive Care, Acute Mental Health, Family Birthing Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care, Paediatric Services, and Regional Cancer Services. This major financial boost is not only a testament to the continued trust and support of the community but also an investment in the future of acute healthcare in the region. The funding will be channelled into the design and construction of a state-of-the-art acute hospital facility that will enhance service delivery, integrate cutting-edge medical technologies, and expand the hospital’s capacity to meet the evolving healthcare needs for generations to come. Building on the hospital’s successful integration of services since the realignment of the Ouellette Campus in 2013, this investment further solidifies its status as a leading provider in a community-based setting, with over 650 beds and an operating budget approaching half a billion dollars.
