VOCSens Secures $500,000 to Advance IoT Environmental Sensors

VOCSens, a spin-off from the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL), has successfully secured $500,000 in investment capital from investors. This funding round marks a significant milestone for the deep-tech company as it aims to advance its innovative sensing solutions for environmental monitoring and industrial applications. The company emerged from the Sensors, Microsystems and Actuators Laboratory of Louvain (SMALL) research group at UCL, leveraging over a decade of expertise in CMOS-compatible environmental sensors. VOCSens specializes in the development and commercialization of ultra-low-power, low-cost multi-pixel CMOS gas microsensors. These advanced sensors are designed for selective volatile compounds detection, primarily targeting applications within the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 sectors. VOCSens’ flagship product, EnviCam®, functions as an "environmental camera," integrating gas, particulates, temperature, and humidity sensors into a singular, low-cost smart sensing platform. This platform features wireless communication capabilities through LPWAN networks. Key applications for EnviCam® include comprehensive environmental health and safety (EHS) monitoring, intelligent HVAC systems, and various alarm functions in industrial control settings. The newly raised capital will be instrumental in accelerating VOCSens' research and development initiatives, enhancing its product commercialization efforts, and expanding its presence in target markets.
