Sowing Seeds of Change: Organic Seed Alliance Raises $10K to Empower Organic Growers

Organic Seed Alliance is excited to announce a new funding milestone, having raised $10,000 to further our mission of empowering growers and protecting the diversity of organic seed. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a twenty-year track record as the leading organic seed institution in the US, Organic Seed Alliance is committed to ensuring an abundant and diverse supply of organic seeds, tended in perpetuity by skilled, diverse, and interconnected communities of seed stewards. This crucial funding will support our wide-ranging initiatives, from participatory research and practical education to policy advocacy and network development, all of which are built on the principles of community sovereignty, racial equity, and social justice. Our programs integrate technical expertise, rigorous methods, and the wisdom of ecology to help thousands of farmers and agricultural community members across the US. By convening spaces for dialogue and collaboration, we ensure that every stakeholder—from small-scale farmers to large agricultural networks—has access to ecologically grown seed and the knowledge needed to steward it responsibly. The funds will bolster our ongoing efforts in organic plant breeding, seed production research, and recording the state of organic seed nationwide, as evidenced by our recent State of Organic Seed report (2022). With this investment, we are better equipped to champion an equitable, abundant, and resilient future of food, aligning our work with the vision that seed holds the power to transform agriculture and community health.
