Shackleton Foundation Empowers Social Entrepreneurs with £10,000 Seed Funding

The Shackleton Foundation is thrilled to announce that it has successfully raised £10,000 in funding to further its mission of transforming the lives of disadvantaged young people across the UK. Established in 2007 by the descendants of Sir Ernest Shackleton, the Foundation honors the legacy of the legendary polar explorer by empowering young social entrepreneurs who embody the spirit and leadership principles demonstrated during Shackleton’s historic 1907-08 Nimrod expedition. This funding will support innovative projects that address pressing social issues such as youth offending, educational attainment, life skills and employability, community cohesion, and mental and physical health challenges. Through our competitive application process, aspiring Leaders are identified and granted seed funding of up to £10,000 alongside access to our vibrant Shackleton Leaders alumni network. This network is crucial in helping social entrepreneurs maximize their impact while fostering sustainable development. Alongside the financial support, successful candidates will participate in our annual Leaders’ Forum, a platform for continuous learning featuring expert speakers and fostering meaningful connections. As a small charity led by a diverse voluntary trustee board, we are uniquely positioned to identify and support innovative projects that are often overlooked by traditional funders. The successful applicants will not only receive funding but also the mentorship and networking opportunities vital for turning their bold ideas into reality.
