Founded in 2021 as a spinout from the University of Oxford, OXCCU is dedicated to revolutionizing how we produce chemicals, plastics, and fuels by utilizing captured carbon dioxide (CO2) coupled with hydrogen, drawn from water and renewable electricity. Our mission is straightforward yet ambitious: to enable future generations to continue leveraging hydrocarbons without the associated climate impact. The pressing need for a transition to zero-emission energy sources has never been more critical, particularly as fossil fuels still accounted for 82% of the 604 exajoules of primary energy used globally in 2022. The funding we've secured will allow us to innovate our unique one-step process that converts CO2 into invaluable hydrocarbons, efficiently producing e-fuels, sustainable chemicals, and biodegradable plastics.
