ReBUILD Metro Secures $4.5M for Community Revitalization

ReBUILD Metro has secured $4,500,000 in investment capital. The Baltimore-based community change organization focuses on revitalizing historically redlined neighborhoods in East Baltimore, working to improve communities without displacing their legacy residents. This funding round underscores investor confidence in their unique model for urban redevelopment and sustainable community transformation. Since its inception in 2006, ReBUILD Metro has evolved from a community-driven concept into Baltimore’s largest nonprofit developer and manager of scattered-site housing for low-to-moderate-income families. The organization has rebuilt over 200 abandoned properties into new homeownership and rental housing opportunities. Its efforts have created a total of over 420 mixed-income housing units in East Baltimore, complemented by the development of several new storefronts and community greenspaces. These reinvestments have yielded significant positive outcomes in two formerly distressed East Baltimore neighborhoods. These areas have together experienced an 85% reduction in vacancy rates, a 30% rise in population, a 60% increase in homeownership, and a 50% reduction in homicides, all achieved without any displacement of existing residents. This track record demonstrates the effectiveness of ReBUILD Metro's approach to equitable community development. The newly raised capital will be instrumental in supporting ReBUILD Metro's ongoing efforts.
