The Little Museum of Dublin is excited to announce a successful funding round of €4,300,000—a pivotal milestone set to expand our initiatives and enhance our mission of recording and celebrating Dublin’s vibrant history. Since opening our doors in 2011, our non-profit museum has been on a relentless quest to capture the essence of Dublin in the 20th century, assembling a remarkable collection of over 5,000 unique artefacts through a community-driven public appeal. This generous infusion of funds will enable us to further bolster our collections, develop innovative exhibitions, and continue our acclaimed educational programs, such as the daily free civics classes for children which inspire a new generation to appreciate civic life and shared heritage. Recognised as “Dublin’s best museum experience” by the Irish Times and a nominee for the prestigious European Museum of the Year Awards, the Little Museum of Dublin stands as a testament to community spirit and collective memory. Our celebrated City of a Thousand Welcomes greeter programme, lauded by the Sydney Morning Herald as “the best free thing to do in Europe,” continues to ensure that every visitor feels part of our living history. With the fresh funds now secured, we are set to not only preserve the museum’s engaging narrative of the past but also to create immersive experiences that resonate with both locals and tourists alike.
