HyImpulse Raises $6.5 Million in Funding for Revolutionary Aerospace Technologies

HyImpulse Technologies GmbH, a pioneering aerospace company based in Neuenstadt am Kocher, Germany, has successfully secured €6.5 million in funding to propel its innovative space launch services. Founded as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in March 2018, HyImpulse has quickly established itself as a leader in hybrid propulsion technology, with a robust development history spanning over 15 years. This new funding will facilitate the advancement of their flagship projects, specifically the development of the SR75 sounding rocket and the Small Launcher 1 (SL1) orbital launch vehicle, both of which have garnered significant attention in the aerospace community for their groundbreaking design and efficiency. The SR75, designed for delivering institutional and commercial experiments into a microgravity environment, aims to conduct its maiden launch by 2022, carrying payloads of up to 350 kg to an impressive altitude of 200 km. Meanwhile, the SL1 stands poised to revolutionize the small satellite market, offering the first-ever hybrid engine with a turbopump oxidizer feed, with a target launch date set for 2023.
