Head For Change Raises $10K to Champion Brain Health and Support Sporting Heroes

Head For Change is thrilled to announce an important milestone in its journey toward fostering better brain health and support for sporting heroes. In our most recent funding round, we proudly raised £10,000 to further our mission of pioneering positive change for brain health in sport. As a start-up charitable foundation established in 2021 by Melanie Bramwell-Popham, Alix Popham, Dr Judith Gates, Dr Sally Tucker, and Joel Voysey, we have built our organization on the firm belief that every current and former football and rugby player deserves a safe space and dedicated support system. These sports figures, who have given their best on the field, are now facing long-term challenges associated with brain injuries and neurodegenerative diseases stemming from their professional careers. This infusion of funds is set to bolster our outreach and research initiatives, enabling us to deepen collaborations with the best minds in science and research. Our immediate plan is to expand our support network and create innovative programs designed to help ex-players navigate complex health challenges through a combination of medical expertise, community empowerment, and ongoing care. With the generous backing provided by our donors, we will also invest in awareness campaigns to educate the public about the impact of sports-related brain injuries and the importance of timely intervention. Every penny raised will contribute to creating a meaningful support system where our sporting heroes, past, present, and future, can access the necessary resources to improve their brain health and overall well-being.
