Hazer Group Raises $10.7M to Accelerate Clean Hydrogen & Synthetic Graphite Innovation

Hazer Group Limited, a pioneering company based in Perth, Western Australia, is excited to announce a significant funding milestone with a successful raise of AUD 10,700,000. Founded in 2010 to commercialise groundbreaking technology originally developed at the University of Western Australia, Hazer has since cemented its position as a leader in the pursuit of low-emission energy solutions. The newly raised funds will be dedicated to advancing the Hazer Process—an innovative technique that transforms natural gas and unprocessed iron ore into low-cost, low-carbon “clean” hydrogen, a crucial fuel for a sustainable transition to a low carbon economy. Alongside hydrogen production, the process yields synthetic graphite, a critical material used in lithium-ion batteries, lubrication, and various industrial applications. Since Hazer’s listing on the ASX in December 2015, the company has consistently delivered on its promise of innovation and sustainability. The strategic research partnership with the University of Sydney and the establishment of core developmental operations within the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering have been instrumental in achieving key milestones. These include constructing Hazer’s Commercial Demonstration Plant, producing high-purity synthetic graphite and hydrogen, and successfully testing Hazer Graphite in lithium-ion battery applications. The fresh capital infusion will further accelerate these efforts, enabling expanded research and the scaling up of production capabilities. As Hazer continues to push the boundaries of clean energy technology, this funding round marks a pivotal moment in its journey toward revolutionising the energy landscape while supporting the global shift towards cleaner, more sustainable power sources.
