Fueling the Fight Against Hunger: Central Pennsylvania Food Bank Secures $1.8M to Empower Communities

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is excited to announce a major milestone in its ongoing fight against hunger, having raised $1,800,000 in fresh funding to further its mission and expand its essential services. This new infusion of capital builds on over 30 years of dedication to ending hunger in our community—a journey that began as a one-day demonstration project on World Food Day in 1981 and evolved into a permanent operation by October 16, 1982. Today, the Food Bank, which serves 27 counties in central Pennsylvania, remains at the forefront of delivering hope and practical support to families in need, distributing over 50 million nutritious meals annually through more than 1000 partner agencies that include food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. The funds raised will primarily support initiatives aimed at strengthening and expanding our distribution network, allowing us to reach more families with the healthy food they need to build a brighter future. Investments will also be directed toward upgrading our existing infrastructure and enhancing logistics systems at our Harrisburg facility—a site that has been a hub of community impact since our relocation in 1994. By bolstering our operational capacity, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank will be better equipped to respond to emerging challenges and serve our neighbors more efficiently, affirming our commitment that no one should be hungry.
