Fresh Funding for Fresh Meals: Celebrating a New Chapter in Meals on Wheels Yolo County

Meals on Wheels Yolo County (People Resources, Inc.) is proud to share an update on our funding efforts and renew our commitment to the service of our community’s seniors. In our most recent funding round, we raised $0—but this figure does not reflect a lack of community spirit or our ongoing determination to deliver freshly prepared meals to those who need them most. For over 50 years, our dedicated team has been preparing over 600 hot meals each weekday, starting at 4:00 a.m., as they work tirelessly while many of us are still asleep. Our efforts extend to seniors across Woodland, West Sacramento, Winters, and Davis, where volunteers ensure that each meal is meticulously packaged and hand-delivered with warmth and familiarity. Even though our latest campaign did not yield additional funds, the purpose of our funding initiative remains vital and clear. The goal was to secure resources to further enhance our operations—from upgrading our kitchen equipment to expanding our volunteer training programs and refining logistical support—to safeguard the quality and reliability of our hot meal delivery service. In today’s challenging economic environment, where many organizations resort to delivering frozen or pre-packaged meals, our continued commitment to cooking meals from scratch is a testament to the belief that every senior deserves a nutritious meal served with kindness. This funding announcement is not defined solely by the monetary figure but by the unyielding drive of our Board, staff, and volunteers, and by our community’s enduring support. We look forward to exploring new partnerships and innovative approaches so that, together, we can continue to meet the needs of our seniors and keep our legacy of care alive.
