Empowering New Beginnings: Seed Round Fuels Expansion of Lifesaving Domestic Violence Support Programs

New Beginnings is thrilled to announce a successful funding milestone, having raised $8,000 in support of our vital mission to empower survivors and mobilize community action to end domestic violence. As the only domestic violence agency in Seattle offering comprehensive services—including safe housing, community programs, and a 24-hour helpline—New Beginnings is uniquely positioned to provide immediate and long-term support to those affected by domestic violence. This infusion of funds will further bolster our wide-ranging initiatives, from emergency shelter services that provide women and children with immediate, confidential housing to our transitional housing program featuring 17 fully furnished units designed to stabilize families for up to 18 months. In addition to our housing initiatives, the funding will help expand our individual advocacy services, where trained local advocates offer personalized support and guide survivors through legal and social resources. We will also channel resources into enriching our parenting groups and Kids’ Club programs, which are critical in helping both adults and children understand and heal from the trauma of domestic violence through education, interactive activities, and resilience-building strategies. Furthermore, our acclaimed Owning Up program—implemented in Seattle middle schools since 2006—will benefit from these added resources as we continue to deliver culturally competent, gender-specific violence prevention education that employs engaging methods like role plays and journaling. This funding not only reaffirms the community’s commitment to ending domestic violence but also empowers New Beginnings to reach and uplift more than 4,000 survivors and community members annually. We look forward to leveraging this support to create safer spaces, rebuild lives, and foster healthier, stronger communities across Seattle.
