Empowering Change: Southern Black Girls and Women's Consortium Raises $10.2M to Fuel Black Girls' and Women's Leadership in the South

The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium is thrilled to announce the successful raising of $10,200,000 in its latest funding round—an achievement that marks a significant milestone in our commitment to uplifting and empowering Black girls and women across the South. Since our establishment in 2017, our collective of dedicated Black women—stemming from deep roots in philanthropy, activism, and girls’ work—has been reshaping the grant-making landscape with a bold vision for social justice and community empowerment. This remarkable investment will directly bolster our mission to support underfunded organizations that center the lived experiences and leadership of those most impacted by systemic injustices. The funds will be strategically deployed to strengthen initiatives that provide critical resources, build community capacity, and drive transformative change across grassroots networks in our region. Our work is guided by the collaborative leadership of anchor institutions, including the Appalachian Community Fund, the BlackBelt Community Foundation, the Fund for Southern Communities, and the TruthSpeaks Innovation Foundation, along with a wide array of dedicated grassroots and advocacy partners. With this new injection of capital, Southern Black Girls is poised to amplify our impact even further by addressing gaps in funding and creating sustainable models for community empowerment. As we celebrate this pivotal financial achievement, we remain steadfast in our commitment to a future where Black girls and women have the tools, support, and platform they need to lead and inspire change from within their communities, challenging deep-seated injustices with every step forward.
