Sthyr Energy Private Limited, a pioneering startup initiated at IIT Madras, is delighted to announce a funding milestone of 1,000,000, marking a significant step in our journey to revolutionize grid-scale energy storage for renewable power. Founded by IIT Madras PhDs Gunjan Kapadia, Akhil Kongara, and Muhammed Hamdan, and supported by distinguished advisors such as Prof. Aravind Kumar Chandiran from IIT Madras and market expert Mr. Shaaji John from Ohmium, Sthyr Energy is committed to delivering transformative solutions in the renewable energy sector. The funding will turbocharge our research and development efforts on zinc-air battery systems that store excess energy during peak summer production as metallic zinc at an impressive energy density of 6000 Wh/l, later converting it back for use during energy-demanding monsoon and winter seasons. This breakthrough technology, which has already generated multiple patents, underpins our modular approach that includes 200 kWh, 10 kW battery modules and 10 kW zinc regeneration units scalable to GWh levels, ensuring a reliable and adaptable solution for a variety of power needs. Our innovative energy storage system is low-cost, safe, and entirely indigenously developed, positioning us to significantly reduce solar and wind energy curtailment while delivering consistent, clean, high-quality energy.
