City Harvest Secures £13.6M to Revolutionize London's Fight Against Food Waste and Poverty

City Harvest, London’s leading surplus food redistribution charity, is delighted to announce a successful funding round raising £13,600,000. This significant investment will accelerate our mission of rescuing food, people, and the planet by expanding our capacity to tackle food waste and food poverty across the capital. With 1 in 4 Londoners facing food poverty, our innovative approach has already transformed surplus food from retailers, manufacturers, markets, and events into 10 million nutritious meals annually – food for over 30,000 meals each day. This new funding will enable us to enhance our fleet of vans and optimize logistics, ensuring even more surplus food is diverted from landfill to those who need it most, including homeless shelters, children's organizations, community and faith groups, women’s refuges, and mental health services. Investing in City Harvest means empowering our team to double down on our sustainable solutions, reducing greenhouse gas emissions while combatting the pressing issue of food waste. The funds will also be directed toward advanced food tracking technologies and infrastructure improvements, bolstering our ability to operate efficiently and reliably during critical times, such as pandemics or other emergencies.
