Building Hope: Mountain Housing Opportunities Secures $1M Grant to Transform Asheville Communities

Mountain Housing Opportunities (MHO) is excited to announce a major funding milestone with the successful raising of $1,000,000—a testament to the strong support of our community and partners dedicated to advancing our mission. Based in Asheville, NC, MHO has been at the forefront of creating safe, stable, and affordable housing since its founding by dedicated volunteers in 1988. As a private, non-profit community development corporation, we are committed to building and improving homes, neighborhoods, communities, and lives, with a focus on fostering hope and dignity among those we serve. Each year, we proudly reach over 2,000 households through a variety of programs including affordable rental homes, essential home repairs, new affordable home construction, and down payment assistance. The recent infusion of funds is strategically aimed at expanding these critical services and addressing emerging housing challenges across Buncombe County and beyond. With this investment, MHO will enhance its current initiatives by modernizing and repairing existing housing stock, accelerating the construction of new affordable homes, and broadening access to down payment assistance programs for first-time buyers.
