Breaking Barriers: SheBoot Secures $300K to Empower Women Entrepreneurs Nationwide

SheBoot is excited to announce a remarkable milestone in its mission to empower women entrepreneurs across Canada by securing $300,000 in equity-based capital. This funding boost comes at a pivotal time for our national non-profit organization, headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, which has been on the forefront of addressing the funding gap faced by women founders. Since its inception in early 2020—founded by Julia Elvidge, Jennifer Francis, and Sonya Shorey in collaboration with the Capital Angel Network and Invest Ottawa—SheBoot has been dedicated to equipping women-led startups with the investment-readiness skills needed to navigate a traditionally challenging funding landscape. Our annual bootcamp, which combines intensive training sessions with a culminating pitch competition, now has additional resources to further enhance its curriculum and provide deeper support services. This financial injection will directly contribute to preparing technology and technology-enabled startups to confidently secure investment, creating a robust pipeline of women making and receiving capital. The funds will help expand our programming and operational capacity, ensuring that our participants benefit from top-tier training designed and delivered by experienced women investors and entrepreneurs. We are immensely grateful for the advisory services and funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), as well as our strategic partnerships with Mistral Ventures and Welch. This achievement builds on previous investments made through the ScaleUp platform supported by FedDev Ontario and delivered by Invest Ottawa.
