Befriend a Child Raises £15,000 in Grant Round to Support Children in Need

Befriend a Child is thrilled to announce the successful raising of £15,000 to further our mission of supporting school-aged children facing challenging life circumstances across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. As the only dedicated befriending and mentoring charity in North East Scotland, we are committed to making a profound difference in the lives of up to 250 youngsters each year. Our programs provide essential one-on-one and group befriending opportunities, matching children with compassionate volunteers who act as mentors and role models. The funds raised will be instrumental in expanding our current initiatives, allowing us to reach more children who are navigating the complexities of chaotic households, family illness, and trauma. For many of these children, having a supportive befriender opens doors to new opportunities, fosters self-confidence, and facilitates a smoother integration into their school and community environments. The impact of our work is significant – for every £1 received, we generate a remarkable £6.13 worth of social benefit for the children we serve. This vital funding will enhance our efforts, ensuring that we can continue providing life-changing support to those who need it most, especially in an era where challenges can feel insurmountable.
